The Photo Club “Elema” was formed in the 1962 by a group of students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Skopje. Today the club is still situated in the faculty’s premises, but its doors are open for all fans of photography. The club has around thirty members, all of different age and professions, but with one mutual passion – photography.
The club is a place where beginners and professional photographers meet once a week, discuss different topics, valuate and comment photographs, help each other or simply mingle. The club members through their exhibits and received awards at national and international exhibitions continuously affirm their talent and their sense for the aesthetic aspects of photography.

The cooperation between the Photo Club “Elema” and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Skopje is confirmed by the annual photography exhibition that the club is organizing in the faculty premises. Members of the club exhibit their latest photographs every year in one of the city art galleries in Skopje. Recently “Elema” has initiated and organized the digital photo exhibition “Digimedia”. However, the most prestigious of all the exhibitions organized by the members of the photo club “Elema” is the “Photomedia” Biennale. The international exhibition of printed photography “Photomedia” has been organized every second year since 1988. As of 1996, the exhibition is organized under the patronage of FIAP. Furthermore, the catalogue that accompanies the exhibition has been rated with 5 stars by FIAP for the last four exhibitions (2002, 2004, 2008 and 2010) that sets “Photomedia” 2008 among the 15th most prestige world exhibitions.
“Elema” cooperates with many Macedonian and international clubs, participates in numerous exhibitions and helps its members to express their talent and to develop and move forward in the world of photography.
